One example, anecdotes do not make for the best understanding of the truth, and speaking of education...

"I's no secret that parents in India urge their kids to excel in math and science, believing that it's the clearest path up the social ladder.

But education is only part of the reason Indian immigrants are reaching the top executive ranks at major U.S. corporations — most recently Google Inc.'s appointment of Sundar Pichai this week to chief executive. That followed Microsoft Corp.'s promotion of Satya Nadella to CEO last year.

It's not just top executives, either. There are 89,000 Indians living in Silicon Valley, according to the Migration Policy Institute, with most of the families involved in the tech industry. Another 86,000 Indians live in San Francisco and Oakland.

Labor productivity -- quality adjusted output per number of people involved in the entire process -- declined by a factor of 10 in these areas. It pretty much has to be that: if the money is not going to profits or to to each employee in the form of higher wages, then it must be going to the number of employees.

It's all about administrative bloat in the system.

There are 2.5 people handling insurance claims for every doctor. And that's just at the medical practices & hospitals; the insurance companies have armies of people working on the claims as well.

There are a few areas that give us hope. LASIK eye surgery is a great example. Except in very rare cases, health insurance does not cover Lasik. So Ophthalmologists who specialize in LASIK just don't have as much administrative bloat -- they don't have armies of clerks skilled in how to code insurance forms so as to maximize the reimbursement from the insurance provider. The end result is the quality of LASIK has improved dramatically while the price of LASIK has plummeted. Ditto for many cosmetic surgical procedures such as breast implants, breast reduction, butt lifts & implants, chin lifts & tummy tucks. Quality has gone up while costs have gone down.
Lots of good points here - COST is the main problem with Healthcare. Costs are going up at rates that are not sustainable and not addressing affordability as part of any legislation is NOT going to solve the problem regardless of whether you support single payer or a completely deregulated system.

However, it is not all administrative bloat (like in Medicare). Drug Companies and Hospitals are booking record profits both are experiencing incredible growth with most of their stocks at record highs all backed by really capable teams of lobbyists. It you support change you must help break these influence strangleholds on our state and federal legislatures.

Posting "false news" instead of what was actually said is some awfully inexcuseable below-the-belt way to push an agenda! You and all who perpetuate this sort of thing should be ashamed, very ashamed...

You should voice your concerns to the biggest and most influential culprits of fake news: the Washington Post and the New York Times.

How many times do I need to remind people in this forum that "two wrongs do not make a right!"

"False news," half-truths, deviations from the truth, all are to be called out and not excused.

Maybe you feel inclined to believe "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em," but I don't.

Post the truth or what you believe is as close to the truth as you know, or don't, but ANYONE who purposely puts forth falsehoods to promote an agenda or refute another is doing nothing but more harm.

Far as I'm concerned anyway...

Two out of three.

Maybe there really are no signs of delusion in his past. That just tells us that the people who will eventually commit murder (or try to) can't be recognized beforehand. Some of them may look nuts from the get-go, but many don't. So trying to screen out the bad ones in advance, usually can't be done.

Yes, he was obviously consumed by hatred, pure and simple. Most of the liberals on this board are, too - this nutcase's twitter and facebook rants sound just like theirs.

But as for having mental illness - this guy got a gun and starting shooting innocent people, with obvious intent to kill. If that's not mentally ill, what is?

Some people on this board say that liberalism as it is practiced today, is itself a mental illness. Debatable, in part because they do keep trying over and over things that have never worked in the past, hoping for a different outcome this time.

But even most of the truly fanatical liberals here, would never get a gun and start trying to assassinate Republicans like that nutcase did. They would be shocked and horrified at the idea - hating Republicans is more of a hobby to them.

Who knows, maybe one or two of the ones on this board might actually someday try it, if they keep hearing (and repeating to others) the unceasing drone of Trump-is-awful, Republicans-are-eeeevil, etc. drivel. But as pointed out above, it's mostly impossible to spot them among the other fanatics who will never grab a gun, until they actually do the deed.

But such future murderers have always been among us. We are only just now finding out what will push the most extreme of them over the line. The question is now, will the pushers keep pushing?

One example X 35 years of similar experiences. Indian engineers are just like all the rest, good and not so good.

Big whoop that there are 175,000 Indians living in the Silicon Valley, which does encompass SF and Oakland as well. That includes spouses and kids of Indian employees. There are 1.2 BILLION people living in India. That's 0.14% of the population of India. Not terribly representative.

About 26% of Indians in India are illiterate.
"Literacy in India is a key for socio-economic progress,[2] and the Indian literacy rate has grown to 74.04% (2011 figure) from 12% at the end of British rule in 1947. Although this was a greater than sixfold improvement the level is below the world average literacy rate of 84%,[5] and of all nations, India currently has the largest illiterate population.

There is a wide gender disparity in the literacy rate in India: effective literacy rates (age 7 and above) in 2011 were 82.14% for men and 65.46% for women."

Tell me about this role model country again.

Yep. The evidence is out there. The left is out of control and most of them need to be examined for mental illnesses. The very fact that any loser left puke on this thread would even attempt to excuse any of this shows you how far off the deep end they have gone. It truly is a mental disorder, and they are out there, roaming the streets with no supervision, no medication, no treatment.
