BRUSSELS—The European Union’s antitrust regulator on Tuesday fined Alphabet Inc.’s GOOGL -1.03% Google a record €2.42 billion ($2.71 billion) for favoring its own comparison-shopping service in search results and ordered the search giant to apply the same methods to rivals as its own when displaying their services.

The decision, if it is upheld, would force Google to reshape the way it presents search results for products in Europe, the latest move by Brussels to rein in the tech world. The decision could also have further-reaching implications for other Google products and services—as well as those from competitors.

I guess EU needs another round of money to pay for their welfare checks......

Drop in the bucket for Google, still stings a bit I bet.

Only a matter of time before the US and the DOJ go after Google. Just like they did with Microsoft.

Good.

Not surprising that right wingers believe anti-trust legislation should be weakened in order to prop up monopolistic power structures though!

Not nearly enough. Google should be forced to change it's name to evil, and should be required to provide every gmail user all information they collect, and how much profit was made, and who they sold what information to every month.

Good. Now if only the US were to enforce its own antitrust laws.

Google has three months to change the way it presents search results. If they don't, there will be additional fines of about $12.3 million per day.
