The GOP should have nominated Newt in 2012. He would have jacked the jaws of the community agitator and become President then.

With that said, Trump won't be impeached. That is nothing more than a deranged wet dream.

Example of Gingrich in the news.

Gingrich just wrote a book and he's trying to drive up his sales by appearing relevant again. He has very dirty hands and that would all come up again if he tried to run for president.

It would be a huge win for the GOP but for some reason the (D)'s are willing to give them that just so they don't lose the power to pick who will run.
Very astute and actually pretty freaking hilarious.

Personally, I think Pence will put Ryan in that spot, if that is possible.

Nixon resigned.

The House and Senate were overwhelmingly Democrat.

An actual crime was committed.

Yes, it makes a difference.

It would be funny if history repeated itself, and the VP somehow had to resign first, a la agnew? Remember, it wasn't any misdeeds while VP that got him, it was what he had been doing before he took that job... and pence is a politician to the bone, so it is conceivable that he has something in the closet that could spring out unexpectedly.

As far as gingrich - yeah, he's still looking for a tidbit from the trump machine. He's been always the bridesmaid, never the bride, so far with them. Wonder how much longer before he actually realizes they are simply using him, stringing him along.

Then you should be happy that the investigations will prove Trump is innocent and the nay sayers will be shut up. We shall see when the dust settles.

Which does? That the congress was under the opposition party ? Or that an actual crime was committed? If an actual crime was committed I posit that the majority party wouldn't matter much, and an impeachment would go forward.

It has yet to be seen if trump committed an actual crime. If his behavior becomes so egregious that it is so overwhelmingly embarrassing and adversely affects the republicans in congress, you might just see an impeachment. Why? Because even if it isn't actually "a crime", there is an expectation that the prez actually behave like an adult.

As to your assertion that congress was overwhelmingly democrat - it doesn't really look that way. The Senate didn't have 60 and the house had fewer democrats than it does now.

Table from link (sorry, I had to work with the spacing to get it to display well)
.........Prez session# ..Prez party .. Senate .. House
2017 – Trump 115th .......R ............ R: 52 R: 246
1973 – Nixon 93rd ......... R ............ D 56. D 242
1971 ......... 92nd ...........R ............D 54 D 255
1969 – Nixon 91st .......... R ........... D 57 D 243

I understand that the trumpissts have gotten a lot of mileage on that argument... but the tires are wearing pretty thin and they need to move on to something new before they have a blowout and end up on the side of the road.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are wondering will trump and the republicans actually accomplish any of their agenda items? Who knows.
