Ahh.

So instead of staying on council and doing their job to improve government help to those with HIV, 6 Hillary supporters quit and write letter to Newsweek to complain about Trump.

We see how it is. Fortunately there are 19 other members who will pick up the slack. Newsweek, the rag which declared Hillary was President, doesn't mention that part.

OP is fooled yet again.

Of course you have to feel sorry for people who get it innocently from blood transfusions.

It is not high on my list of concerns either since I don't do drugs and share needles with aids patients or sleep around.
You realize that there are regulations that are in place to keep HIV from spreading to people that don't partake in risky behavior and these regulations are evaluated and tweaked to best protect everyone - including healthcare workers that are at risk as well as the general public.

Things like needle disposal programs, sanitary disposal of bandages and gloves at hospitals, cleanup and disinfection at hospitals, dental and clinics and even schools. Rules that require disinfection of dentist's tools so a tool from someone with HIV isn't reused on someone without HIV unless properly disinfected.

Rules for how police and first responders deal with the public while also protecting themselves from getting infected. Even hair salons and restaurants have to take care to disinfect and prevent spread of disease. There are procedures in place to handle situations when a restaurant prep-cook cuts a thumb so their blood doesn't get into your food.

Most people in America that don't engage in those activities likely agree with you. Generally, people who are concerned with personal responsibility have more important issues to worry about. Doubtful many will be bothered by this, outside of liberals who continue to reach deep in their quest to sling mud at the POTUS.

Like supporting a president who doesn't care about most of the people who voted for him and is already making their lives tangibly worse?

Please do not project your disgusting apathy and "I don't care about anyone but myself" attitude on 320 million other people. There are plenty good people out there working to solve problems that do not affect them personally.

Default Six resign from presidential HIV/AIDS council

This is a good thing... now those 6 salaries can be directed toward actual HIV research!

Trump's mentor and father figure, Roy Cohn, died of AIDS. Which makes Trump's attitude on this matter even more disgusting.

God these morons are so selfish
Why do you think they're powerless to do anything? And exactly what power is conferred by being in a government position when the administration doesn't care and doesn't listen to what you have to say? As long as Trump and his gay-hating VP are there, these people could go hide out in a cave on Mars and be just as effective as they were on this council.

They've - rightly - concluded that they can get more done outside of the administration.

In 1987 when the council was set up there was a need for information and research into the [then] HIV pandemic.

Fast forward 30 years everyone knows about HIV, about how it is contracted and whilst there is still no cure pharmaceutical companies have drugs that can prolong life for years.

It seems to me that the 'panic' over these 6 who left because they perceived Trump didn't care is yet another storm in a teacup. Maybe its time to put the resources from this council towards other causes/diseases ?
