Right, becasue asking for religious people to respect you regardless of their personal views is exactly the same as making a statement of white supremacy to a mostly black crowd.

No one is pepper spraying her. She has free speech & freedom of expression.

But if she does it at a movie theater while people are watching a movie.....or on a baseball infield while players are actually playing......or in Church (any church) where people are trying to follow a doctrine or possibly praying (that she can follow or not follow & pray or not pray & leave or stay)......or at school while people are trying to take a Final Exam.....then she will probably be asked to leave.

How is this hard to understand??
Well, from the article, she was speaking in what was described as a monthly Fast and Testimony session. It's a time to give a testament of faith, and she gave hers. She wasn't interrupting anything.

We all have choices in life.... How you satisfy your sexual desires is taught. It is taught to be acceptable, taught to be wrong and taught to be taboo, but most of all taught how by someone else.....

Don't yuck in my yummy!

The fact is that if Mormons don't want to allow homosexuals in their church, then they shouldn't have to. If you're a homosexual, don't become Mormon. Simple as that.

In any event, the bishop probably should have just let her finish, not out of respect for her, but because it looks bad to cut her off. If he didn't cut her off, this wouldn't even be a discussion right now.
Not all Mormons want homosexuals banned from their church. We used to have a Mormon over in the religion and spirituality forum who was very much of a gay rights advocate.

Poor kid, why did she think this was a good idea? Doesn't she have parents to advise her this isn't going to help her? She can express her sexuality in many places and be recognized as brave and a trailblazer. This was neither. Did she think the church is going to say they've been wrong? Don't think so...

Why does everyone want to publicly announce their sexuality? Even a 12 year old child? What a sexually sick country we have right now.

Well, as I said earlier, the kid likely saw the church as a community and a family that she was apart of. I don't think she was expecting some radical change, just for the people in the congregation to be ok with it. Certainly just to let her speak.

She's not expressing her sexuality; she is asserting her right to exist as a person. In some of these churches people are taught that homosexuals are an abomination to God and made to be ashamed of who they are. Is all she is doing is standing up to that and saying: "No, God made me this way and I reject men who tell me that he made a mistake in me."
