Good Grief what would they put in this NYC library? I've never been to a Pres Library but if I had the WILL, I'd visit Barack Obama's....but I have no WILL, so that's out too.
I think they are a waste of our money anyway. Plenty of books written about our Presidents.
I had a thread about it being a waste of money regarding another one being built, Obama's.
I just got a visual of this huge orange monster with a ridiculous comb over and a halfwit look on his fat face, looming menacingly over the city.
What you propose is the stuff of horror movies.
No, but for years Grant's tomb in NYC was in disrepair and closed to the public. It was put up out of the way on Riverside Drive in south Harlem a short walk from Columbia University. Trump is obviously a creature of Manhattan, and it occurred to me his library will be built there. Wouldn't a glistening, smiling Trump beaming brightly down on NYC make it's residents happy.

I got attacked and had cruel words thrown at me.
I hope you have not and do not.
Tell the truth, Atalanta. The difference between your thread and this one is that you were outraged that Obama was having a presidential library built, believing he was doing it out of hubris, because you were completely ignorant of the fact that ALL presidents have libraries. That's what you were brought to task for.

I think there would be issues and protests regarding any Trump library in NYC. He's disliked immensely, and prior to getting to being elected by rural America has been viewed as a local joke for the last 20 years.
Any 'library', which would probably be full of photos and videos of Trump, should be in an area where he is at least liked or viewed as sane. Put it in a Trump county.

Living in Boston, I've been to the JFK Library a few times. I think it's fascinating. I'm not fan of our current president in the slightest, but I think his will be equally fascinating if not more so. Keep in mind, Presidential libraries aren't "libraries" in the same sense as your local library. They're far more than collections of books. They function more like Museums and give you a look not only at the presidency, but the personal life of the president, as well as a snapshot of American and World history at the time. It's easy to look at the president right now and say "ugh, no way would I want to visit that," but it IS history and love him or hate him, Trump is a fascinating character. So I think this library will talk a lot about his upbringing and his experience in Real Estate, Business and Entertainment. It will talk about the historic race and election, and it will talk about whatever happens over the duration of his presidency (and afterwards).
So I think this has potential to be one of the more interesting presidential libraries regardless of how is presidency goes, simply because he's such a fascinating character. We remember the best and the worst leaders more than the others. Trump seems destined to fall on one end of that spectrum or the other (I tend to think latter) and in spectacular fashion. I'd definitely go visit.

These libraries are a true waste of OUR MONEY but for obvious historical reasons I don't feel that way about Obama's .. he is exceptional as far as I'm concerned in our whole american dream world. He broke a big barrier even though hatred still continues and will always Sadly...lots of angry ugly people out there.
Those who attack on these boards, don't bother me.
I don't think he reads very much so a library built in his name would be fairly ironic. I do have to wonder about the usefulness of presidential libraries although I have never visited one. It seems like those donations could be put to better use.
