I would like to think that Uber and the county have the right to require that people that operate passenger services speak English but I smell a law suit coming...
70% of Miami residents speak Spanish as their primary language ... and most of them are citizens.

Although it's my belief that everyone coming here should learn the language, the government has no business dictating what language a person speaks.

Personally I'd rather have a licensed taxi driver who has been in the business for 20 years but that's just me. Not only that, Uber is not THAT much cheaper.

Another disadvantage of Uber is you are usually riding in a tin can. Traditional NYC Yellow cabs have some freaking STRUCTURE around you, which is surely what I prefer when riding in a taxi in a busy city.

That is already happening. Uber has cut the rates to the point where the drivers barely make anything after covering vehicle expenses. In my area, Uber drivers are mostly chronically unemployed people without the skills and clean drug tests it takes to get a job driving a taxi or limo. Uber is the Dollar Store of transportation, you usually end up being driven around in a filthy 8 year old Kia by a person that cannot even get a job in fast food.

I agree since the driver is working in the USA in a profession where they are interacting with people meaning they should speak English.
