What do you guys get out of misleading people with this nonsense?
I think you know the answer to that question.

I think the debates proved their news people were just as tough on (R's) as they were on (D's).

Let's how how good you are.
If you wanted an honest poll you'd have neither as a choice. I vote neither.

As the Democrat governor of Alabama, George Wallace did this in the 60's. George Wallace was the Democrat governor of Alabama nearly 20 years later in the 80's.
These southern Democrats were called Dixiecrats. This name dates back to the 1948 presidential election when Strom Thurmand and other southern Democrat governors worried about their place in the party. Now while these "states rights Democrats" were not prevalent, George Wallace and his 1968 campaign as the American Independent Party candidate did take this but threw in anti-segregation philosophy (which by that point did go north to Detroit and Chicago with various riots) did go somewhat north.

Wallace may have won the democratic nomination in 1972. The popular vote actually went to Humphrey 4.1 mil to McGoverns 4.0 mil. Wallace had 3.7 mil but when he was shot in mid May his campaign basically stopped. The DNC was held in July.

KKK membership is estimated to be ~6000 members. Why are they relevant?

I've got a better question for you since the KKK is a bankrupt organization now !

Which PARTY wanted to make sure that our first BLACK President didn't succeed?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FirI3_G_0JM

To imply that the Dems are still a racist party 50 years later is quite laughable but if you did a Google search you would know that History and not to be true at all.

Perhaps your mindset is still stuck in the TrumpPutin mindset that says "Make America Great Again" or Make America White Again!

Maybe you should be "asking" why did Conservatives in the Republican party became the "racists" of the former Dem Party in the 1960's after the Civil Rights legislation?

Good luck with that.

Which PARTY made it about wanting a black president instead of policy?

Yeah there are posts about this all the time. Today's Republican Party is not the party of Lincoln. It's the party of Nixon and Reagan. It's the party of Strom Thurmond, who became Republican in 1964 because he didn't like the direction the Democratic party was going on civil rights.

I doubt that he would have won the White House though. Nixon was popular and didn't need Watergate to win. Democrats for Nixon would have been as prevalent as they were for McGovern because outside of the south Wallace was considered a racistand a bigot.
