Oliver purposefully dangled the bait, and Murray bit.
Stay tuned for the next episode.
Oliver is spot on, as always. You can't sue someone for telling the truth, and I challenge anyone who actually watched this clip in its entirety to point out where he lied. Oliver is a gem. We need more like him who do in depth pieces that expose POS' like Murray and Trump. Very well done!
Your argument is a logical fallacy. Of course I don't believe that. Furthermore what I believe is also irrelevant. That's simply another ad hominem fallacy.
Nope. Just pointing out that when it comes to facts, Murray does not have the market cornered.
That's why he is suing isn't it? So why is the left upset? If he did nothing wrong, why are they upset about it... seems to me, they are going to settle which pretty much means Oliver did slander him...
I think Oliver will appreciate the fact that he is being sued. The threat of suit resulted in Murray playing a major role in last weeks segment. Based on how Oliver has handled such suits and threats in the past I imagine Murray will be playing a prominent role in future segments.

HBO is under no obligation to tell Murray's side of the story, although it's not even true that they didn't. He specifically brought up the earthquake claim and dismissed it, as he should, because it's absurd nonsense that isn't supported by any evidence. Meanwhile the explanation that the collapse caused the earthquake is supported by actual evidence.
The lawsuit is absolutely frivolous. They're, of course, free to sue because Oliver hurt his feelings and didn't go into a detailed defense of their ridiculous earthquake claim, but here's the thing, Oliver doesn't have to be nice and he doesn't have to act as a mouthpiece spouting BS for a coal company.

I'm betting that HBO's lawyers have told Oliver to keep his mouth shut until this gets resolved.
Edit: corrected type where I mistaking said Murray instead of Oliver.

True. What is merely entertaining when done to a company like HBO and someone with Oliver's stature is most definitely not entertaining when it's use against organizations and people with fewer resources as an effective tactic to suppress criticism.
After looking through it.. yeah.... It's not frivolous at all.
