Perhaps nationally, it means rich people first, but internationally, it means that people in the USA are nationalistically focused and more interested in their well being over a social responsibility (shared by many Western countries) for other peoples and planetary care.
In any case, unless it is a longstanding White House tradition, I think Trump should not attend special interest events and should not establish new ones.

I doubt any lives were saved. John Cantlie was travelling with a journalist from the USA whose head was cut off (video proof). John Cantlie is still missing and has not made a new video in several months. James Foley and Steven Sotloff lost their heads, not to mention other aid workers who were killed.
