Perhaps Donnie should pay more attention to a potential war in Syria than being OBSESSED about his press coverage. He's so obsessed; he cannot function. He didn't have any input into the health bill; he has left Syria and Afghanistan up to the Generals. Other than playing golf and watching himself on television - what is the man doing?

He's not the first to do this. People do it all the time. It's just that none of them are ever elected president (with good reason).

Call the free press the "enemy of the people" is absolutely not worthy of praise. A democracy needs a free press. Trump can brag about going directly to the people, but the fact remains, no government that has only ever operated under that directive has ever been remembered fondly. The USSR, Nazi Germany, North Korea; they don't have a free press. The government will tell you what they are doing and there's no chance to source that.

Are sources like CNN flawed? Absolutely. But I'd take a flawed free press any day over a controlled press.

They have had their way for years... decades... and they are finally being exposed.

Before Trump was inaugurated, I posted this on 1/3/2017...

The use of Twitter has been brilliant in two areas - one, he can talk over the press to get out whatever he wants without the media filter. And I am not going to share the second one yet - because it involves his strategy in taking on the press.

Just to think we would have none of this had Clinton won the election with her 98% probability.
This is probably the most important thing Trump has done for our country is take on the Fake Stream Media that had a stranglehold over the ignorant voters with their ceaseless lies. You have given voice to the "deplorables" whose voices had been quashed by the Media establishment.

The biggest threat to this country is the decline of support for the free press. Too many people want only one source of news and an autocratic form of government.

Only two things protect this country from falling into dictatorship: the free press and your right to vote. Both are under assault.

Yes, Mr. Trump.

Mr. Nixon, Mr. Mussolini, Mr. Putin and Mr. Hitler would be proud. Donny Dupe is a dictator's dream. (Too much alliteration?)

Autocrats around the world laud him. Mr. Duterte, murderous leader, definite admirer. And strongman Erdogan admires Trump tactics as well.

"...Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte specifically referenced Trump in his damning of the media when referring to unfavourable reports about his expenses last month.

“Don’t believe the media that much,” he’s quoted as saying. “As Trump said, they are dishonest.”

"These sentiments have also been echoed by Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who admired Trump’s put down of a CNN reporter as it put him “in his place”, and in Egypt where authorities applauded Trump’s claim that the media “deliberately doesn’t report” terror attacks..."

"The longer it goes on and the more vicious Trump’s attacks get, the more despotic leaders will begin to believe that they can get away with more brutality..."

And Donald Trump has threatened to stop all White House press briefings.

Donald Trump has banned news groups from the White House that say things he does not like, he has banned camera's so there are no photographs of White House news events, and he has threatened to stop all regular White House meetings with the press.

Trump is creating a White House where no one can ask questions, no one can take pictures, and no one knows whats going on. And instead of outside groups asking questions, taking pictures, and letting Americans know whats going on inside the White House Trump wants a White House that simply releases written statements when it wishes.

Do "authoritarian governments" allow everyone to ask questions, allow groups to freely take pictures, and hold regular press meetings everyday (or) do they release information how and when they want to?

Free press shouldn't mean the right to print or say whatever you want to in order to promote your political agenda and try to pass it on as real news. 98% of most news media now especially cable is an editorial on how they think things should be or putting out stories to persuade the public to think one way or another. Worse yet they delete important things and take others out of context for that same reason. That's not news and shouldn't be promoted as such.

Just remember that Trump is supported by a minority in this country. You still have to deal with the majority opposing him and we will continue to support the press in this country, whether you like it or not.
