Every time a Republican is president, there is the claim that they will "go after medicaid." Don't believe everything you hear (or read).

I've always found that ironic about so called individualists, who seem to want to want to deny those who disagree with them the ability to self identify.

I can see that you have no idea what "progressivism" is. You might want to find out before saying something dumb.

She was never gonna win. Too much baggage, scandals, and caught lying too many times. Nobody believed a word she said, not even her own party. They set her up against what they believed was the absolute worst republican candidate they could...she still lost. I mean if President Trump is as bad as Dems seem to think then what does that say about Hillary losing against him? She lost ground in every group I think, even minority ones.

I think there is a large majority of this country that can agree on just about anything that matters, or come very close to it.

What has happened is that people running both parties care more about their wealth and getting reelected than doing whats best for most of us. All of the power brokers in the RNC and DNC are absolutely corrupt. They have sold their souls to various interest groups. The DNC tells its people they will do this or that for the environment, or for this or that group but these are just words to get elected. Same for the RNC.

People are fed up with it. I think the biggest division is between the Political elites and the avg joe.

Step back and look...what did Obama do differently than Bush? Not much...pandered to a few environmental and open border groups but nothing really long term that matters. The important stuff remained the same. Wars in places we have no business in and stoking hate and discontent between Americans that would otherwise band together and toss them all out.
I can agree with these, I am fed up with trying to justify our government in my head so I can sleep "It will all work out!" ... at our expense.

The START?
The big swindle of the 1820s where Americans surrendered their endowed rights in the Republican Form and transitioned to the Democratic Form, with its mandatory civic duties, that abrogated their endowment.

Not 1 in 100,000 Americans can accurately define the republican form of government, nor its source and origin.
(No, it's not a "constitutional republic". It existed before the USCON.)

Now, a majority of recipients can outvote the donors, and the glorious socialist state can tax and rule the (m)asses without pesky restrictions of the USCON.

What the hell happened?

Maybe Crowder can explain it to you. Caution lewd language in both videos.

People who voted for Trump this time voted for Obama last time and were screwed----that is the bottom line.

What lead us to this point in history? That would take at least a three volume work to even begin to clarify. In short, I say

-loss of jobs through a combination of pro-upper class policies and higher levels of technology
-inadequate access to post-secondary education
-relentless downsizing since the 2000 recession
-long wars without tangible results
-continuing drain of high paying jobs to prosperous metropolitan areas, leaving most rural areas behind (esp those communities without adequate infrastructure, post-secondary education institutions, and cultural amenities - particularly those that are remote from even small to medium metro areas and even more remote from major ones).

That's all I can think of regarding the tangible/quantifiable stuff. Now for the intangibles that IMO contribute every bit as much to our situation.

-widening ideological divide
-changing social values (not nearly as stark as in the 60s, but it's there)
-a subtle but very real glorification of "the macho" as model of how people (especially males) should deal with the world
-failure to understand people outside our own self-identified group (whether race, religion, economic class, or even ideology)

Democrats joined Republicans in selling out the American public in favor of multinational corporations and the military industrial complex. Republicans doubled down on bigotry and pettiness to differentiate themselves from the Dems and it worked.

The answer is simple. The failure of both major parties to represent we the people. Instead they represented the special interest groups and catered to the extremists.
Ronald Reagan, hero of the GOP wouldn't get elected dog catcher today. He wasn't right wing enough.
JFK hero of the Democrats would be called a republican by the DNC. He wasn't left enough.

Communist/socialist indoctrination, with a liberal helping of revisionist history in the public schools over the last generation.

A biased media slanted toward the same.

"Deep state" operatives planted at every level of government.

There are plenty of blanks there to be sure, but they are not hard to fill in with a bit of critical thought.
