There may be a mutual admiration society in the works at present between Trump and the Poles - but just wait until mention of Putin enters the conversation. While the Poles may adore Trump - they hate and despite Putin, especially for his invasion of Ukraine.
Should be interesting.
Why are Polish leaders so eager to impress Trump that they are bussing people in to cheer? Was Trump's face projected on buildings this time as well?
Though I realize Polish leaders share Trump's view on immigration, this all seems a bit much. It's like having the Queen of England tap dance for you.
Just to be clear, Polish leaders are fine with immigration when it is going the other way. One of the arguments for Brexit was stopping the flow of laborers from Poland and Eastern Europe.
While it is all well and good to "demonstrate that there are other governments out there – big ones! – that share its skepticism of refugees (with a little bit of publicity for a regional cooperation initiative as a bonus)," Poland's strongest economic ties are with the EU, not the US.
I'm surprised Trump went to Poland. Do they have a golf course? I wonder how much it cost to fly all those security, cars, helo's etc to Poland? Do you think Trump giving his government paycheck to the VA covered it?
