The problem with your argument is that this guy as far as anyone can tell didnt have political leanings and held the same position within the VA department till 2004
No one on the Democrat had a problem with him being in the Obama administration.
He is part of the Obama administration: If he hadn't had a 5 year term he could very well have been out a few months ago. Most appointees are gone within about 4 months or so. As for his new job, it may sound like a non partisan organization but what do you want to bet it very partisan.
Do you really think, considering he is ending his term, he would have been re-appointed?
As for who will get the position, that is very much up in the air I am thinking. There are several good names that come to mind. I do not think Christie will be one of them. I am wondering if he hasn't just hung himself for if others haven't hung him out to dry.
fyiero: appointed positions are always filled by the party in office. Of course the

I would prefer an honest Republican--one who's not been under indictment or criminal investigation would be nice.
Bigger question is..would anyone with a real sense of ethics work for Trump..assuming that Trump would ask such a person?
It appears that the Director of the Office of Government Ethics has had enough of dealing with the Trump Administration, and is leaving as of July 19th, taking a job with the Campaign Legal Center, a non-profit, non-partisan entity devoted to tougher campaign finance laws.
Mr. Trump may now, with the advise and consent of the Senate, select his own fox to watch the henhouse.
I will toss out one name: Governor Chris Christie.
Good. One less Obama critter in there messing with Trump making America great again.

Here's a great idea: Require that the head of the Ethics Office be from the opposition party.
Another useless government post. My wallet feels heavier already.
