Looking over the national landscape, you just don't see many sane Republicans these days.

But we have a GOP Guv who is against the vast majority of the policies of Don the Con. Not only that, but he is smart, successful and completely believes in our "commonwealth" (that's socialism for the rest of you). He doesn't hide from the press or the people. In fact, he's on the radio for 3 hours right now taking calls from my fellow "liberals" in our state.

Not a single call was from a "republican or other in the trump image"....in other words, not a single fearful or bully or crazy nut called. Everything was about policy - and the Guv addressed everything.

What a breath of fresh air. The people of MA have elected many Republicans, including Mitt Romney - who gave us both marriage equality and universal health care. Now we have Charlie Baker fighting tooth and nail against TrumpCare.

Maybe some of the people here need reminding that the citizens of the most liberal, successful and wealthiest state in the USA - aren't as partisan as you might think.

AND, that the old New England Republican still exists....although a very rare bird. TrumpCare is bringing many out of the closet, tho.

Glad you are happy with him, regardless of your political views it is nice to know people can be open minded enough to see both side. Now, as for the stupid name calling, I wonder how many people realize how immature name calling is and how by reverting to it, they lose credibility.

Voicing an opinion that anyone isn't sane because they hold a different view also destroys credibility.

It's puzzling, really. Republicans were once as likely to be sane as anyone else. Their priorities differed from Democrats, but no one though that they'd be destructive. Nor were they. In fact, everyone keeps saying that Nixon was quite liberal by today's standards.

Good post, but Mass isn't the most liberal state according to more than one source. There are several states ahead of you including Washington, Minnesota, Oregon, California, Rhode Island and New York. Surprisingly at least to me, Washington now holds that title.

Growing up, I found myself mostly aligned with Eastern Establishment / Rockefeller Republican politics. Sadly, moderate Republicans have lost most of their influence over the party's identity, especially nationally.

Moderate Republicans should be on an "endangered species list" given the proclivities of the Republican party!

Glad your happy taking other people's money to pay for your own healthcare. Do you want the state to pay your mortgage and food bills too?

A republican can look like a democrat and a democrat could look like a republican.

Not much different than a dog that looks like a zebra and acts like a democrat as it runs in a circle. Then it turns into republican as it attacks the press or rather the cameraman/woman.

Labels are sometimes useless. This would be the perfect dog for the Trump WH

I don't live in MA anymore so I don't know enough about Baker to have much of an opinion one way or the other. But I do know that regardless of whether they like him in MA, there isn't a chance in hell that he could get the GOP nomination if he wanted to run for President. Not in today's GOP. The kind of Republicans who can get elected in MA don't stand a chance.

Maybe he could follow in Bill Weld's footsteps and try the Libertarian party if he aspires to higher office.

Oh, do you pay out of pocket for all of your healthcare, with no insurance whatsoever? If not, then you are also happy taking other people's money to pay for your own healthcare.
