He's going nowhere- for the moment.

Right now, he's still a useful idiot for Trump, but Bannon is completely out of the NSC, the position he was hired to fill, and whatever influence he may have once had in our national security affairs is now long gone, never to return.

That's a good thing. I would sooner trust this nation's security to a Silver Star winning 3-Star General who has seen combat and knows more about the Middle East than any other person now serving in the administration than trust a fat old fantast who dreams of anarchy and doesn't know squat about our government and the constraints upon it.

The only reason why Bannon still survives is because he can still turn a phrase, but speechwriters are a dime a dozen in D.C., and there are many who are much better at it than Bannon.

He got his shot early on, and blew it badly for his boss. If Bannon had been effective at all, the first attempt at the ACA repeal might have stood a chance, but it sunk like a rock to the bottom of the sea due to his massive screw-up. Representatives showed him and his boss they don't like to be pushed around by newbies.

Trump likes to keep his impotent has-beens around, especially when they are good suck-ups, so I expect Bannon will linger on for a while longer.

But as soon as Trump needs another sacrificial lamb, Bannon is on the short list for filling that job. And he knows it.

He came across as being mighty fearsome at first when no one knew him, but once he was known, he became the cowardly lion. Nothing but empty bluster.

Dannon remains because of the Heritage Foundation and Breitbart.
