She was mentioned exactly ONCE in that excellent post.

I'd hardly call that 'a lot of time seething' about her.

Why is Ivanka doing this? Do we still have a Secretary of State? If a President cannot be at a World event, shouldn't it be his job to take a President's place? A President's Daughter instead? Strange. This is starting to remind me of Edith Wilson and Nancy Reagan, but at least they were First Ladies. You can read between the lines of what I am saying.

No of course I can't , seat fillers are only used when a seat needs "filling"

Well if the person filling the seat doesn't matter, how about Kathy Griffin? Would that be okay?

It's six of one or half a dozen of the other. She's no less qualified to meet with the G-20 leaders than Trump.

Cabinet members and other government officials, not relatives. Why is this so hard to grasp??

Michele Obama hosted the spouses of world leaders.

Did you just ask a Trump supporter if they read? Hahaha.

Imagine if this has been (an older) Sasha or Malia. Good grief, this thread would've been 13 pages in an hour.

Ivanka didn't "sit in" for Trump at the Summit either. Do you ever read anything but the headlines, which are often intended to deceive?

Melania is a much better hostess than Mooch ever thought of being, too. Mooch was just a pig.

Here's the easy way at to think about this.

Is it unusual to have a seat filler? No, absolutely not.

Would it be unusual to have a 35 year old political appointeee with no significant prior government experience sitting at this meeting, rather than a more seasoned appointee? Yes, absolutely.

Would it be unusual to have a mid-grade professional diplomat sitting at this meeting, rather than a more senior diplomat? Yes, absolutely.

She was there because she was his daughter-no other reason. Not education, not experience, not position. Her daddy is the President, and that's the only reason. That's the very definition of nepotism. Nepotism, even if legal, is completely unethical in government service.

Why does she "have no damn business there?" That is purely your opinion, and it isn't based on any logic or tradition. She is part of the staff. Staff often sit in the President's chair if he must step out (which is the case here) and it was only for a short while. Other countries follow the same protocol.

Geeze, it's not like Trump wasn't present at all.

Get a real life!
