I feel totally stupid because in reading his tweet, I just didn't get it...but I don't go to nail salons. The one time I did, we had no Asian workers in there. So if I just read his tweet without this thread, my mind would have gone down another path of "Bill, what are you doing in a nail salon?" Honestly, I *do* get my hair done and they stylists are of all ethnicities and we HAVE talked about N. Korea as a group.
So, was Bill being stereotypical or was he commenting that N. Korea is all the talk in places like salons/gyms etc. and he wouldn't have otherwise known because he was on vaca?

There's a stereotype that nail salons tend to be run by Asian women. It's a stereotype that I don't think is immediately obvious to people. It actually took me a minute to even register what people were mad at (I did agree with on Twitter user pointing out that the joke wasn't funny), but if you watch a show or movie that has a nail salon, it's commonly populated by Asian women, all of whom apparently immigrated to the US within the last 5 years based on their heavy accents.
To be fair, this tweet isn't that offensive. His "house ******" joke was far worse. And frankly, had this Tweet not come from a comedian, I may not have even registered it as a joke, because as I said, it really didn't even make me smile. I would have just read this as someone tweeting about their day. As you said, why is Bill Maher in a nail salon?
But the OP is quick to remind us, all leftists are furious about this so I guess I'm mad or something. I wouldn't want to make the OP a liar.
