Yep. A fiction writer. And a damned good one at that. From your statement, I'll assume you've not actually read any of his books. By the way the story you reference, "Trucks," was actually a short story and not a book. The short story was later adapted into the movie "Maximum Overdrive." Its far from my favorite in his huge collection of writings but it was an interesting statement on technology becoming a behemoth over mankind.
King's stories and books aren't just scary fodder but act as statements on humanity, life, existence etc. But, like I said, you'd have to actually read the books to appreciate them.
Yes he is a fiction writer who recognizes fiction when he sees it.
What makes his opinions more valid than anyone else's? What makes King a go to resource?
I enjoy his books, but that doesn't mean I care what his personal views are.
