Liberal mayor trying to control the masses.

Denver mayor wants commuters to stop driving to work by themselves | FOX31 Denver

Quote:
Hancock is proposing a plan to reduce the number of people who commute to work by themselves by car.

"73 percent of Denver commuters drive to and from work in cars by themselves, by 2030 our goal is 50 percent," Hancock said.

So how will Hancock convice people to ditch the car for the carpool?

For starters nearly 200 miles worth of new bike lanes over the next several years as well as new bus only lanes on major streets.

Have you ever been in Denver traffic?

Heaven forbid someone is trying to alleviate some of it.

Try mayor of large US city trying to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. How are putting in bike lanes and putting in bus only lanes "controlling the masses"?

What? You don't have bike lanes and HOV lanes up there in Minneapolis? Too bad for you. Your commute to work must really suck.

Yet again Fox and one of its acolytes waxing hysterical over nothing. No one is stopping Denver drivers at gunpoint and forcing them to get on bicycles or shoving them under the train on the light rail tracks. Denver has been undergoing phenomenal growth in recent years and the congested Interstates can't bear all that extra traffic. When I lived in Denver, it would hurt to breathe sometimes in the winter. The air in Denver is better these days thanks to emissions controls and things like light rail, improved bus lines and bicycle lanes. Giving people the CHOICE of riding a bike to work or taking a bus that gets around more efficiently is hardly the act of a 21st century Karl Marx.

Get a grip.

So you're okay with the government telling you how should be driving your personal vehicle?

Yep, used to live there. Taking away infrastructure meant for cars to build bike lanes is not going to solve the problem. Just because you build it, does not mean they will come.

I don't think it will work, but I don't see it as controlling the masses.

And Fox News and and Fox Television affiliates aren't the same thing.

Wow, a big metro area that is undergoing big growth at the moment is seeking to alleviate a traffic congestion problem. Stop the presses! This is big and controversial NEWS!

Not.

You can be assured that if the mayor of Denver was a Republican, the title of this thread would be something on the order of: GREAT IDEA FROM REPUBLICAN MAYOR OF DENVER!!!!!!

Is there anyone here on C-D who doubts that?
