I hope they spend the time working to fix the ACA but not optimistic. They probably do need to raise the spending cap since they cannot wait for September.

(CNN)Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has delayed the start of the August Senate recess until the third week in August in order to allow more time for his conference to complete "its work on health care reform" among other tasks.
"In order to provide more time to complete action on important legislative items and process nominees that have been stalled by a lack of cooperation from our friends across the aisle, the Senate will delay the start of the August recess until the third week of August," McConnell announced in a statement.

Damn.

More opportunity to spend our money/curb freedoms.

Someone ship them some board games. Let them play Uno or something until they go on break.

They are on the payroll in any event although they might get per diem to remain in DC.

If I was McConnel I would throw ACA at the liberals and demand they fix that abortion they passed. Otherwise go for full repeal.

I think that is where this ends up because the republicans are so divided, they will need to work with democrats on the fix. You can't just repeal, they need to have a replacement now since it would take years to put a replacement in place. They should work together and come up with what's best for the country and forget about acronyms.

Why didn't the cons have a well-thought out plan ready to go after seven long years of campaigning on repeal?

Because they never imagined they would win the house, senate, and presidency. They never imagined they might have to govern. Its not what they know how to do.

In any other first world democracy, they would have had to have a plan ready before the election, the voters would have been able to evaluate it, and then would have cast their votes based upon their plan compared to the old plan. But American voters don't have those baseline expectations and the media focuses on personalities and sensationalism rather than policy.

I don't see this working out, Paul and others said the current version doesn't go far enough moderates indicate it went too far.
