Trump is charismatic and speaks in a way that connects with his base. We may mock him, but his communication style is effective.
Telling people what they want to hear, regardless of its authenticity or connection to facts/reality, tends to have that affect.
The problem is that when you get into the real world and actually have to start doing things, all of those lies and false promises you built up your base on fall apart.
Trump is a great manipulator and con-man - I've certainly never contended that he isn't. A great communicator, though? Especially when one fact checks his statements? L. O. L.
Begs the question how Obama would have fared against Trump in a formal debate setting?. Trump took down all the old pros in the GOP as well as Hillary in the pres. debates. What would he have in store for Obama, more importantly how would be get to Obama. Leaving the whole birther stuff out of it, he probably would attack Obama's lofty rhetoric as empty and an exercise in vanity. Trump would rattle Obama and most likely knock him off this stride. The insults would be like nothing we have heard before.
My word, judging by the clip of Obama, he is a mess when not using a teleprompter.
Obama speaks in a highly intelligent and articulate manner. A debate between Trump and Obama would end with low bar personal insults from Trump because, frankly, Trump would not comprehend the discussion.
Trump won the election because he is one of the best communicators the world has ever seen. The best the Democrats came up with was Hillary Clinton who was even allergic to her own speeches hence her coughing and sneezing fits when ever she would speak.
I disagree with many Republican policies and am Independent.
I watched the 700 club interview and the power of persuasion and brilliant communication skills are the what Trump specializes in.
Reagan and Clinton were also extremely good at communication, but Trump is a level above. Out of the billions of people who have roamed the earth over the years, Trump's power of persuasion and incredible communication skills are likely in the top 100.
What are you basing this off of? Compared him to MLK, Bill Clinton, Gandhi, and Ronald Reagan. Give me an in-depth analysis. Prove you aren't just praising him becasue you voted for him. And while you're at it, compare him to Sander, Hillary Clinton, and, just for fun, Ted Cruz.
