Trudeau tells US governors to ditch 'America First' - BBC News

Imagine the outrage if an American President had suggested Quebec ditching Anglophone Canada.

Oh, we know what happened when DeGaulle repeated "Vive Le Quebec Libre" - major diplomatic incident.
De Gaulle and "Vive le Québec libre" - The Canadian Encyclopedia

Trudeau should be banned from the U.S. for meddling in domestic politics!

Ummm...it was just a speech, not a deal. They are free to choose to do it or not. Banning him instead of just some official statement saying "Nah, no thanks" (if they feel that way..America first is being taken way too far imo) would be overkill and all.

Regardless of what you think of what he said, this is not meddling in foreign politics. If you genuinely believe that, you just don't know what the word means. That's honestly the only possible explanation.

Canada's strategy is to bypass Trump and deal directly with governors and mayors.
It is not "meddling" any more than is US states sending trade missions abroad and offering state incentives to get foreign investment.

It's a good strategy.

It's embarrassing that I'm more proud of Canada's leader than I am of our leader. We could be so lucky to have someone like Trudeau lead this nation.
