Gun Control, Knife Control, and, soon, Drain Cleaner Control in London - The Unz Review

Like NYC and Paris, London is a global city.

As for murders London had 102 last year in a city of nearly 9 million and over a third of murders are relate to domestic violence.

Whilst in terms of Acid Attacks, there are other products that can clean drains and clan patios besides sulphuric acid.

With only 102 murders in London and 571 nationally, I would suggest that London and indeed the rest of the UK are doing something right, as there are more murders in Chicago than the entire UK.

Acid Attackers are now going to receive life sentences, indeed as the Home Secretary pointed out the victims should not be the only ones to receive a life sentence, and the carrying of acid for no good reason will also result in a mandatory sentence.

All very sensible in my options imo, as for knife crime, kill someone with a knife in the UK and it's a madatory life sentence, with a minimum of 25 years before you can even go before a parole board, and even then parole is unlikely.

50 years ago when people talked about acid in London they were usually referring to LSD.

Shows how things have changed.

You are obviously not familiar with the case of John George Haigh 'The Acid Bath Killer'.

Haigh disolved his victims in Acid, and when he was finally interviewed by the police, staed there were no bodies.

Unfortunately for Haigh, Scotland Yard decided to employ the best experts in forensics they could find, and they found remenants such as teeth, gall stones etc, as a result Haigh was sentenced to death and hung in 1949.

I think the Government is looking at restrictng the sale of sulphuric and other high powered acids to only those who are licensed and need them as part of their work.

There ia also pressure to bring in mandatory sentences such as minumum 25 year sensentences before parole can be applied for as part of life sentences.

There will also be mandatory sentences for thise caught with acid.
This demonstrates the utter futility of government's ability to solve problems. Creativity, imagination, perspective and reality are foreign concepts to governments. Considering human nature as an element in problem solving is a violation of social justice. Better dead than being offended.

The US and GB are kindred spirits in that pursuit.

You can only try to improve things and the fact that London a city of 9 million only had 102 homicides last year, of which a third were incidents of deomestic violence speaks volumes.

A further sensible idea would be to increase police officer numbers.
