Hillary's web site is still up and it's on there. I think, though, that the Dems are going to get behind national health insurance as a policy plan if this GOP scheme really does fail. Poll today from Bloomberg said health care is the number one concern of Americans right now. Carpe diem, Dems!

"Have "robust marketing strategies" to ensure that more people enroll during open enrollment periods."

What have you been doing since Obamacare began?

That this dog of a repeal/replace ACA bill has died (at least for now) highlights one of the major problems within the GOP party; they are heavily divided into warring fractions and thus cannot function as a cohesive group.

In the House with its larger number of (often gerrymandered) seats it may be another matter; but the Senate is different. Members of that body represent their entire state and thus are easily subject to primary challenges from their own party, along with those from Democrats or whoever.

An ice cube in Hades stands a better chance of surviving than a senator who ticks off a good part of his local constituency, especially if it is of the marginal sort.

GOP senators are thus caught between several camps:

Those that want nothing else than ACA/Obamacare repealed, period, nothing else put in place.

Those that want ACA kept but issues worked out.

Those willing to keep *some* parts of ACA (long as it is called something else), but rewards states that are fiscally conservative (that is miserly with social spending including Medicaid/charity healthcare), while harming the more liberal...

And so it goes.

While there obviously are "safe" House seats, no such thing exists in Senate, at least no member of that body wants to test those waters. So there you are then; a whole several months wasted on something everyone knew would come to nothing.

Worse for the GOP His Orangeness has very little leverage with many senators as there is very little to nil they want from him; well other than seeing his severed head on a silver platter.

If this truly is then end of "repeal/replace" the fun will begin shortly. Mr. Paul Ryan and his House members that put their necks out and passed the thing are now left holding the bag on that vote.

Meanwhile for all intents and purposes there is only about four months remaining of this legislative year (September through December) and there is still much on the GOP's plate. A budget has yet to be passed, tax reform, infrastructure, and several other *bigly* things. The former must happen, the rest....

If this is the best the GOP can do they really just should pack it in; they control three branches of government and yet still cannot get anything done other than those EOs and other administrative actions from DT.

Well , when you have more unpaying customers it means the paying customers get higher costs..

Illegals came to have babies here. .Many hospitals on the border closed because the paying customers could not cover the cost of all those freebees going to illegals. The hospital was giving too many free services and not enough paying customers to cover the expenses.

"Expand tax credits by age, geography and income to help people buy insurance. Currently, about 84 percent of ObamaCare participants get a subsidy."

So let's spend even more money? Where will you get it from?

Obamacare is just a big socialist program to spread the cost to the working guy who has healthcare.. Now that working guy has to pay a higher premium for all those who have a tiny payment or no payment at all for the same coverage.

If I were Queen, health insurance premiums would be based on your health, just like your car insurance is based on your driving record. You drink and get a ticket, your car premiums go up.

So called lifestyle diseases which are self inflicted due to overeating, smoking, no exercise, alcohol, drugs would result in higher premiums. However, when you stop those self destructive behaviors and your health improves, your premiums would go down.

Only real diseases like Parkinson's, cancer, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, etc. (you can't choose to not have them) would go into a high risk pool and people would be means tested to qualify for subsidies.

Means testing all entitlement programs including Social Security and Medicare would allow more coverage for people who are poor.

Meanwhile, stop being so partisan. We all know Dems and Reps are two sides of the same lazy, greedy coin. They play political games instead of working for constituents. There are a few good guys but the rest need to be replaced. Have substitute candidates waiting in the wings for their seats and it might inspire them to do their damn jobs.
