Net neutrality is a catchy name. Meaningless, but arouses sympathy for government control. anything Obama conjured up is detrimental to the country. Other federal agencies are still in place to oversee any illegal stuff that might occur.

Before NN, prior to 2016, the net gave us google, facebook, etc. what will NN give us?

I urge you to read through this thread.

Net Neutrality was not something that sprouted out of a vacuum in 2015.

I promise you, if you are a consumer (and aren't an ISP or work for an ISP), there is no positive in this decision.

People are upset over "net neutrality" because they were told to be upset about it.
Wasn't an issue until it was made an issue in 2015.

And there ARE choices out there. I use Verizon wireless and they pretty much cover most of the US including rural areas.

Net Neutrality discussions have been happening for years, more than a decade (see for yourself https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality)

And it has nothing to do with your second statement.

I urge you, like the poster above, to read through this thread and web links on what NN actually is about. You will find, assuming you are a consumer, a lot to be upset about in rolling back these regulations.

Yes. I don’t recall the internet being much different before 2015.

You are not upset because you were told not to be upset--by the very people who are going to benefit big time from this change. (And here's a hint: That's not you.)

This kind of ignorance is what led to the Buffoon-In-Chief and is what is driving this country down. Try educating yourself just this once, sky. Just for a change of pace.

That's because the FCC has been fighting this fight for many years, well before 2015. The rules codified in 2015 only formulated many unwritten rules that the Internet was operating on for more than 20+ years.

I urge you to look into the history of this debate and why these regulations are good for you (and everyone else) that is a consumer.

This "change" only happened in 2015. Trump is just undoing what Obama did.

My internet usage is no different today than it was before 2015.

This fight predates 2015 by many, many years. The rules codified in 2015 were the final stage of that fight, and we (consumers) won.

This move is just giving the power and control back to ISPs (who do not have your interests at heart).

You can believe whatever you want - but this is way above American politics. This has extensive ramifications, and it will affect you directly (not positively).

Hi. I'm a network architect for a Fortune 500 company and this has been extensively debated in professional circles since some ISPs started messing with it in the early 2000s. It's come to the forefront because - as per usual - Republicans want to give nice big gift to their donors at the cost of the consumers.

Oh, wireless. That's efficient.
