Lol, as if ISPs operate under a free market, more like a regulated monopoly if anything. Often there is only one, two, or three choices total in the area, and maybe only one in the specific neighborhood/building you live.

Edit: they are called franchise agreements if you want to read more about it.

cool story buddy. But you completely misunderstood what NN protected.

It may very well turn out that YOUR provider YOU ISP decides that they will not carry Netflix, or infowars.

In fact maybe comcast will decide alex jones will have to pay per stream... and then his viewers would have to pick up that cost.

Pretty coincidental that there was a "security threat" that needed the room to be cleared when the vote was done so they could hide behind closed doors when the word was released.

This continues an uncomfortable trend where we are now going to need to fight to get things back that we have long taken for granted... clean air, clean water, transparent processes, not to mention basic facts. Of course, this is assuming we can afford and access any data which has not yet been scrubbed from any websites - particularly government ones.

If the lawsuits from states' attorneys-general are found to have merit, will this ruling be nullified or at least put on hold pending realistic commentary and review? Wait, what am I thinking... I used the word "realistic" in today's world.

telecommunications is NOT A FREE MARKET. how you don't understand this already is super worrying.

in fact we are talking about a highly regulated market where the gov sells monopolies to the highest bidder.

F*** you Ajit Pai. F*** DT for this BS. They repealed NN even though something like 80% of all Americans across the political aisle don't even want NN repealed. The GOP and DT have stuffed the government full of trojans that work for Comcast and Verizon. Pai has accomplished Verizon's and Comcast's goals. It is only a matter of time until he quits the FCC and goes back to Verizon for a hefty 7 figure salary.

98% of Americans don’t even know what it means and are just reposting the same partisan drivel. What changed after 2015 when it was implemented? Nothing.

All it means is that consumers are free to decide where they want to access content. Comcast can’t decide what content you see. They might decide that during peak times to slow down porn content to better serve their core customers. You realize that a small 1% of users utilize 80% of the bandwidth? I thought liberals hated the 1% and want them to pay more. Liberals sure are inconsistent.

And the Republicans still wonder why they're losing in places like Alabama that were considered strongholds for the GOP. Let's hope they keep this head in the sand approach going into the midterms next year.

They do not represent the middle class. They only care about the well being of these corporate giants who prey on the poor and middle class. They will soak us for everything we have if we don't put a stop to this. I'm hoping this will be tied up in courts until we can get rid of Trump in 2020.

trump's base is old white guys in rural communities. This sort of crap of interfering with the internet is lost on them. BUT...it is not lost on millennials. Hopefully they will show up for the 2018 midterms over this issue (and others) and vote. It won't upend the FCC makeup, but it will start the Impeachment proceedings.

You guys should make up your mind. For the last year you’ve been bitching about all those rural deplorables in flyover states and suddenly you care about them. Cool story.

What the hell are you even talking about? What changed in 2015? Nothing, duh.....because it kept the status quo genius.

Comcast won't be able to decide what I see? Yeah right. Comcast has a giant stake in Hulu. Why wouldn't they slow down Netflix to make it utterly unusable to funnel people to use Hulu instead? You are woefully myopic. This is what happens when get a bunch of utterly moronic baby boomers who didn't grow up in the digital age get to elect officials in charge of making extraordinarily important decisions on the policies that shape technology in this country. The baby boomers are living in a fantasy land and millions have no idea just how fundamental the internet is for just about everything these days.

Keep droning on about liberals like a buffoon even though 80% of voters within your own party don't even want NN repealed.
