It is not "weird" to want the government to make sure that people are not getting screwed over by Internet providers. Your comment suggesting that it is...is what is weird.
Since it was passed in 2015, how come all the poor, underserved people weren’t offered lots of new and exciting choices?

They are currently not allowed to. They will be able to soon.

Should they be allowed to? I'd argue, no.

This is going to allow ISP's to soak rural America, where a few big companies hold stifling monopolies over the internet.

Eliminating net neutrality would hurt rural America | TheHill

I fail to see any public good that a NON-neutral internet serves, but I can see how certain companies (with or w/o government involvement) can use it to filter certain kinds of information.

In that case, I'd argue YouTube and Facebook must allow porn and spam and fake news.

So you decided to just ignore the list of the countless breaches of net neutrality you were provided with?

Contrary to popular belief, people use the Internet for things other than Facebook and playing World of Warcraft.

Though you obviously have to consider the source, the Internet is the Library of Congress on steroids for research and information of all kinds.

Now, not only do you have to consider your sources, but you need to consider the bias your provider may have. Often the information you don't get can be more important than what you do get.

Now a biased provider can mold your mind however they see fit by making opinions and facts contrary to their bias almost impossible for you to access.

With communication giants buying up every form of information we get on a daily basis, they now have your brain in their pocket.

Why is your right to watch The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt greater than my right to watch two people banging? Why is your right right to watch cat videos greater than my right to stream Mass from the Vatican? Why is your right to watch Hulu greater than my right to watch YouTube? And why would you want to empower Verizon or Comcast to decide what content deserves "better" treatment?

I'm going to say it again, slowly. Without. Net. Neutrality. Your. ISP. Can. Limit. Access. To:

Your email
your banking website
anything you put on a cloud storage platform

Stop thinking about net neutrality in terms of paying more for media.
