H2B workers are not immigrants, they are temporary employees who are given permission to work in the US for one year. This new 'allotment' of 15,000 is for non-agricultural H2B visas, and I see no reason why we need to import construction workers, roofers, HVAC workers, electronic tech, soccer coaches or registered nurses, I am quite sure we have Citizens who can fill those jobs, this is just a way for businesses to hire people on the cheap, and I don't think it is in any way beneficial to the working class of this Country.

I'm not addressing that. i'm addressing the comments that say immigration to the united states is horrible. period. And most stay here and become citizens, and that's very frequent.

The H-2B Labor Certification application is valid for the period of employment indicated on the Form ETA-750A. However, the validity period may not exceed one year. With the initial one year and the ability to file for extensions you can stay for a maximum of three years on this visa.
Why don't people get it that Trump is not and has never been against LEGAL immigration it is the ILLEGAL immigrants that suck off the system and hurt America.
Trump wants Americans to work first but as it looks there are certain industries that need foreign workers so the Feds are extending work Visas.

Once again Visa holders are legally entering the US and will be beholding to our laws.
Illegals that sneak in or overstay their Visas are breaking the law and need to be held accountable.
It is only a misdemeanor to enter the country illegally.
People blame the Mexicans and the S.A.s but it is the businesses that are to blame. If you want to control illegal immigration, close businesses who don't hire those with a work visa. Make the business man suffer, not the Hispanics.
Interesting how big Trump acted at first, throwing them out of the country, but giving visas is a good idea. At least he is doing something right, even though it is a P in the bucket, and I could be wrong about this being the right thing to do since it is coming from Trump. As usual they will get very low pay, no medical, and often no home. I have seen them at the Del Mar Fair grounds where they work, and they sleep in sleeping bags along the creek and have to use the bathroom there as well. They provide them with nothing. We need another Cesar Chavez. Mexico needs a revolution, so that their people are not starving so much that they come here. And starve they do.

66 percent of newly badged "illegal immigrants" in the USA entered the USA legally on a visa. This is why critics to Trump's wall said that the wall won't work. Illegals enter the US legally, mostly via airplanes, then they stay and turn into illegals. What good is a wall if it only impacts 1/3 of illegals. This is why the wall is a waste of taxpayer money, because the illegals are entering on legal visas first.

Excellent point, those who overstay their visit are a huge issue. The other part is that the vetting under the Visa program is not that stringent. Yet here we are banning refugees.
I wonder if they would attract US citizens if they increased the wages, granted these are seasonal positions but if they paid a better wage they might attract home grown workers.

I'm not convinced that US citizens are unwilling to do these jobs. Several years ago one of the Reno casinos hired a bunch of H2B and J-1 temps from Poland to work as drink servers, I talked to a few employees of the casino who said it made no sense to hire them because there is always a waiting list for those jobs.
At about the same time a firm that rents out kayaks and other boats at Lake Tahoe didn't rehire their regular summer crew but instead replaced all of them with H2B workers. My cousin lives there and he was one of the displaced workers The owner of the company importing the J-1 workers was sentenced to prison for using the program to place foreign students in menial jobs. The H2B visa workers at ski resorts pay recruiters thousands to get the visa and when they arrive they are on their own with no housing assistance or even transportation to their jobs.
