Had you actually read that article past the headline, you would have seen this.

"President Donald Trump has promised not to cut Social Security or Medicare, though his budget proposal for next year would reduce Social Security's disability benefits by nearly $70 billion over the next decade. The savings would come from encouraging, and in some cases requiring, people receiving the benefits to re-enter the workforce."

Now what was it that you were saying about seriously stupid?
So what you are suggesting is that people actually read the articles?

The only one winning from Donald Trump being president is Trump himself. The Democrats aren't winning and the Republicans sure aren't winning. Democrats can't get any of their agenda passed due to being a minority. And Republicans have to deal with endless criticism about why they can't get anything accomplished despite having their own kind everywhere (a valid point).

Not only that, Republicans have to deal with a President eager to throw them under the bus at the first sign of trouble. And there has been plenty of that. Meanwhile, Trump gets to Tweet, rally, and golf to his heart's content. I doubt the GOP will be able to pass any type of health care plan. There is too much opposition to the cuts from within the party.

Or at least watch who you call stupid when you don't.

Default Social Welfare Programs NOT Social Security

The article is from CNN, anti-Trump, YAY Democrats, I would consider the source. CNN has reported incorrect news before. There is no mention of cuts to Social Security, only Social Welfare Programs, you know the ones the Democrats continue to fund as do-gooders, when there is so much fraud and corruption in the program.

Lyin Ryan has been talking about privatizing SS and Medicare for years. To him its a wet dream.

Just remember that the GOP still wants to undo the FDR legacy as well as the Obama legacy.

They want the people who make the least to pay for all the goodies of the wealthy.

Robin Hood in reverse.

This is what you get when you vote for any Republican - even when it's a Republican acting like a Democrat when he says that Medicare and Social Security won't be cut. If you don't want Medicare or Social Security cut, vote Democratic.

Republicans have been wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare for decades. They were strongly against Social Security from the day it was enacted and they have fought against it since then.

Their latest cut tactic for Medicare is to turn it into private vouchers. The GOP goal is to whittle away at traditional Medicare and turn it into 100% private insurance. Then give people monthly flat fee vouchers, which won't cover a decent plan. The only way people will be able to get a decent Medicare plan would be to pitch in extra from their own funds each month - a LOT extra. The private plans will never be as good as traditional Medicare and they will cost more (out of pocket) than seniors can afford. The GOP hates anything that's not privately run so their goal is to slowly but surely shut down traditional Medicare.

For Social Security, they'll try to raise the age and reduce the benefit for people..starting with younger people. They do this cuz older people vote. If older people's Social Security isn't touched, then the GOP will have fewer complainers. Especially since lots of young people are busy raising families and furthering their education and career and they don't follow politics as much as older people. If the GOP cuts Social Security for people 50 and under, or 55 and under, then it will only be a few decades when everyone has cuts to Social Security, because the old folks that didn't get cuts will roll off SS as they pass away.

GOP has a UUUge problem tho~~ Without passing HC repeal and replace HC bill.. Those billions being cut out
from Medicaid and other brackets.. were NEEDED to balance the tax cuts they wanted to apply. The party of balancing cuts in budget to allow TAX Cuts notion!!

Since HC isn't going to happen.. Just where is the Tax/Budget bill going to get their windfall billions to justify TAXcuts for their donors??

We on the outside are just sitting back watch GOP majority in ALL governing Federal levels employing!! Conservatives claim to be fiscally responsible.. but the constant cutting that small portion of the budget that directly affects the less fortunate/elderly/lower middle class ones will indeed cause a HUUUUGE response come 2018 mid-term!!! I absolutely do NOT relish what's happening.. But what has been said forever~~ Elections have consequences and unfortunately the POTUS (+Bannon/Trump whisperer) bent on mission to dismantle "Administrative STATE" is happening not just in front of foreign observers.. BUT Americans in the know and CONGRESS!! When will GOP cut their losses?/ Who knows??

Actually there is. There are proposed cuts to SSDI. SS standing for social security. And before you try playing the rampant fraud claim forget it. It is quite difficult to get on SSDI. Sixty percent of applicants are denied.

In post number 13 I retracted my claim that the budget being considered will cut Social Security.

However, when I speak to young Republicans they invariably call SS a ponzi scheme. This uniformity of thought is coming from somewhere and is designed to undermine any expectation that Social Security will be there for them. We currently spend over 600 billion on defense. Do we really need to spend almost three times what the Chinese are spending to protect American interests?. The money is there.

Did you really vote for Trump because you didn't like Hillary? You obviously forgot that she would be signing executive orders, appointing judges, and vetoing bills that would take health care away from millions.

Next time that you think of voting Republican at the federal level remember that you are giving your government permission to take your house in a personal health catastrophe or giving up your right to keep a job.
