UBI?

Get real. You think the ruling class will want to pay for that? They won't without a fight, and by then they might have automated police to keep the masses "in their proper place."

Well... in a democracy, the majority rules. So technically, yes. That's why Bernie is a Democratic Socialist. The way money flows, is dictated by the majority of voters and if the majority wants the ruling class to be taxed cause they can't survive, then that's what Uncle Sam will do. It won't be easy but hey... the US was never smooth sailing throughout our history was it when confronted with big economic challenges? Just remind yourself that the way life is now, is all thanks to those before us who fought, got involved in politics, protesting etc.. that we often take for granted.

What if AI and robotics is our destiny? If you believe in evolution you believe that mankind changed gradually over the centuries. If you believe in other theories...could be that homo sapiens killed off the Neanderthals and didn't "evolve" from them at all. In fact, some studies show that Neanderthals had a larger brain and may have been peaceful creatures until they were wiped out by the aggressive Homo Sapiens.

So Homo Sapiens create AI and robots....and get wiped out by AI and Robotics.

Since everyone is all doom and gloom here over jobs. Let me provide some positive reason why we should get to automation ASAP.

Technology's purpose is there to help improve our lives and standard of living. With robots taking over doing a lot of our work, it now frees up our time and gives people the freedom to do whatever tickles their fancy. Some people will have the time to be creative entrepreneurs. Some will go back to school. Getting the economy automated is a big step forward with making our lives easier. Why should we do work, when we don't need to? We only do it now cause we need to do it to survive. When our income is replaced with UBI, we now have freedom.

True, but the U.S. is not a democracy. The U.S. is a plutocracy/aristocracy, and always has been.

The flow of money is dictated by major campaign donors and lobbyists. It's not in the elite's interest to pay to keep the "rabble" alive. They're not going to give up their vast fortunes without a bloody fight. The robber barons of the past hired armed thugs to beat up their workers: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homestead_Strike. If you think today's captains of industry are any different, then I've got some Nigerian emails you might be interested in.

Bernie is a Social Democrat.. better not mix up those two distinctions!
