I was in my 30s and occasionally picked up a newspaper. The media wasn't progressive or agenda driven in the 80s (like it is now), but about half of all Democratic politicians were extremely liberal & thought Reagan was dangerous (Gary Hart, McGovern, Kennedy, Conyers & lots of others).
Reagan was hated &/or considered a clown by many of them. Remember the Genesis video with the Reagan and Thatcher puppets?
