This is one of those moments where I can I see where and why some of Trumps rhetoric resonates with quite a few people in this country.
So 1 congressman (Jim McGovern) took issue with Duterte visiting or following Trump's invite and he his diplomacy looks like this. Well well he makes Trump looks like a proper statesman. Perhaps the US should cut their aid towards his country and see how lousy he thinks the US is then.....

Philippine leader won't visit US, says 'it's lousy' | Daily Mail Online

Another so called "ally" of the US who actually hates us.

Foreigners aren't obligated to love the United States. Maybe he hates us for a good reason. We suck sometimes.

We don't need them as an ally anyway. It's time for the Philippines to turn toward regional powers like China or Japan. They aren't in our hemisphere, and we have no business sending them aid.

I'm totally ok with not every country loving us and agree that the US can be quite unlikable. What I don't like is us giving huge amounts of money to countries who don't like us and countries that don't like us talking trash while taking our money.
Like you said perhaps it is time for them to look for money and allies elsewhere.

Great. Another megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur.

Time to cut him off.

And yes, Trump is an idiot too.

Like passing ships in the night, one day both Duterte and Trump will be mere memories.

Neither of them speak for the majority of their citizens. Taking either of them serious enough to do any lasting damage to an allied relationship would only be by choice.

The world is according America some understanding right now as all leaders have met Trump and commiserate with America's current dilemma. That will pass.

No one shives-a-git what Duterte thinks or says about America. The guy's just another pumped up Idi Amin.

Filipinos jump at the chance of coming to the US or west, just look how many Filipino nurses there are.

So clearly Rodrigo Duterte is in a minority of one.

Then again jusging by his previous quotes he's a grade 'A' idiot.
