Is this really a thing? Trump nominates the second least popular governor in the country for Ambassador for Religious Freedom where he "monitors religious persecution around the world"? We pay for this? Kansas voted for Brownback, they are stuck with him. Why in the world would we pay for this? Republicans want to get rid of the Department of Education but are fine paying for this?
That office is charged with promoting religous freedom as a key objective of U.S. foreign policy, according to the State Department’s website. The office’s mission is to monitor “religious persecution and discrimination worldwide, recommend and implement policies in respective regions or countries, and develop programs to promote religious freedom.”
What in the hell is an ambassador for religious freedom?
The only religious freedom that Americans should be concerned about is their own. Who does and doesn't have religious freedom outside of these borders is none of our concern.
It doesn't more swampy than Brownback. And by the way - aren't churches tax exempt?
