Yes, there are quite a few atheists and agnostics in the organization. Many local troops are open and welcoming, even if the organization as a whole is not.

Civic duty is a large part of the program. NORMALLY a civic leader would say something appropriate and non-partisan, like 'Duty to God and Country' stuff.

Blaming BSA is misguided. The ire should lay squarely at the feet of the Dufus delivering the message.

Well, he should not have gone into politics, this was not an appropriate venue for that. I didn't like it when Obama did that, and still don't like it with Trump.
