Remains to be seen whether families will just shrug it off as more of Trump's BS or whether they will decide that campfire or no campfires, they are not signing their kids up for this nonsense.
At the very least, none of these Scouts or leaders lived up to their oath, "To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."
What nonsense? BSA is a great organization, teaching kids right from wrong, more than I can say about many parents and our education system. All people I know who were scouts turned out to be good people.
Preview the president's speech? What planet are you talking about? Of course they would not preview the president's speech. Nobody previews the president's speech. Why would they? To "uninvite" him? Nobody does that either, unless they want to be in the center of an immense political firestorm.
The President of the US always has the honorary title of president of the BSA. He gets to speak when he wants to.
Why did they invite him in the first place?
Given the turmoil his administration always seems to be in, I rather doubt they figured out that here was an opportunity for Trump to toot his own horn.
BSA leaders have known since the election and surely since the inauguration that having Trump speak was going to be a divisive at best.
You'd think given the troubles they've had lately, they'd lay low for awhile.
Mormons are developing their own scouting program. They announced in May that the teens will be pulling out by next year. The younger ones will stay in Boy Scouts until they get the program for that age group underway.
according to reports, the scouts have a standing tradition of inviting the president to speak at the jamboree. i guess scout leaders just assumed there was no possibility a POTUS could F-up an address this badly. live and learn.

I just turned the news on, and there he is talking to pre-teen boys about a record-setting crowd, do they think the fake news will report on it, and did President Obama ever attend a Boy Scout rally. Good Lord.
Trump's was a better speech than 0bama ever gave to the Boy Scouts, that is for sure.

It's even sadder considering the irony involved in your comment - 0bama refused to give a speech to the Boy Scouts while he was the president, despite being invited each year.
He was invited and accepted an invitation to speak at the jamboree.
