In these 600+ pages of this thread one thing is noticeably missing--and that's an apology from the president. Which the scouts, and the rest of the country, will never get. Because as we all know (because Trump told us), he never apologizes because he never makes mistakes.

Look at the dissent and destruction he leaves in his wake. But he goes on his merry way, to cause more, without ever taking responsibility for his words or his actions.

What a great role model he is.

He's a dispicable human being.

You mean the event that Obama blew off every year? What a pathetic excuse for a president he was.

Every year? Are you familiar with how Jamboree works?

Feel better now?

Had Trump 'blew off' this event--he would have been far better off.

They have it every 4 years. I don't think Reagan went. I not sure but I think a few others didn't attend both times(over 8 years) I am sure some were hoping Trump wouldn't, or at least behave himself.

I was a Scout, but my son will not be a Scout if this is the organization in 2017.

I will not have my son participate in a political organization; and I sure as hell won't have him participate in something that looked like a Hitler Youth rally.

Trump is the exact opposite of everything I hope for my son. He is antithetical to everything I stand for, and I thought the BSA had the same ideals.

This is not what Boy Scouts used to be about when our sons were involved.

But at least on the national level, it appears this is what they are about now. The apologies have been weak and only in response to the significant criticism.

Why they let this happen is somewhat of a mystery.

If our boys were in that crowd, cheering and booing along with Trump, this would be the end of Scouting for our family.

By contrast, if I were to discover that my kids had behaved that way, I'd wonder where I had gone wrong in raising them. Also, my children have never participated in Scouts alone. My husband or I (or both of us) have always been registered leaders and active in the pack or troop, so we were well aware of what was happening. A Scoutmaster would not have needed to step in on our behalf, because one or both of us would have been there.
