I'm sure I'm missing quite a few. I'm about 75% sure this had everything to do with race. And the other 25% was probably some competitor trying to get his/her competition shut down (and even then, the easiest way to shut down a black competitor is to call in the assassin squad). Extremely frustrating to see young black men harassed while doing exactly what everybody lectures them about. Barriers at every turn and every level.
Last month we had a white kid that was trying to make some extra cash by mowing lawns get shut down by his town because they required him to get a business license.
I suspect this is the same deal.
I think it is stupid. If a kid wants to earn some extra money then let them.
I experienced the same as that kid
I conducted myself differently.
Problem was as explained by the officers sergeant was, a reporting of things getting stolen by so called landscapers and contractors who didn't hold legitimate businesses... just said they were contractors or landscapers and drove around during working hours in neighborhoods that weren't populated between 9am-5pm...
As for pulling the cuffs right away, that was uncalled for. The situation should have been handled better by the officer. Teenagers regardless of race are rebellious especially to police. Police can capitalize on the situation and conduct themselves level headed and explain to them the why and the reason rather than charge in Gung HO ready for a fight. Remove the stigma or fuel it.
That actually pissed me off, especially 1:15. Who TF does that fat ass think he is? He had absolutely NO reason to threaten that kid with handcuffs.
And I'm sick of cops who won't give their names. They are public servants, give your damn names.
I see people go door to door all the time, unharassed. Mormons, for one. Kids selling things for school. People trying to start their business...just like this kid. That is what they tell you to do to get your name out there is to go door to door handing out your business card/information.
F this fat bloated corpse. I'm glad that kid backed up and didn't take it. The cop didn't chase him because...well one, he wouldn't have caught him, but mainly because he knows he was wrong. Useless thug. THAT is the kind who gives all the others a bad name. He should not be a cop.

The police officer was wrong for not explaining why he was doing what he was doing. To be honest there were so many situations I had with minorities that were easily diffused because of proper communication. I really believe if he was able to communicate better it wouldn't have elevated to the nonsense that occurred.
My son (white) was recently pulled over. He was driving home late at night (3:00 am). They handcuffed him and put him in the back of the car while they did their research. There had been reports of stolen property and he was driving 10 - 15 MPH over the limit.

Wow, the cop shows up at the kid's home and claims he never met him before.
