White House to announce Apple-supplier Foxconn manufacturing plant in Wisconsin on Wednesday:
Apple-supplier Foxconn will announce a plant in Wisconsin on Wednesday evening, accompanied by President Donald Trumpand Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a source with knowledge of the announcement told CNBC. About 10,000 jobs could be created.
The announcement would come on the heels of a Wall Street Journal interview with Trump, where he said he had spoken to Apple CEO Tim Cook about three U.S. factories. Apple has yet to comment on Trump's remarks. Cook told Jim Cramer on CNBC's "Mad Money" in May it would start a $1 billion fund to promote advanced manufacturing jobs in the United States.
Apple supplier Corning told CNBC last week that it would "immediately" invest $500 million and create 1,000 new jobs in the United States, but those jobs are related to medical devices.
Really? Funny how businesses only "eyed" factories in the US while Oblubber was in office, it took Trump (and some common sense reform of regulations) to actually make it happen. Like most things Obama...it took an adult in office to actually get anything done. And given Obama's anti-business attitude, is it any question why?
They'll try to pretend it's Trump. Pretty soon they'll start saying Trump killed bin Laden. This has been in the works for a long time. Seven states were competing for it. It was not conceived, weighed and determined in six months. Not by a LONG shot.
Looks like the promise was broken by Carrier. We will see how that works out for them in the future.
Trump has been completely silent. Sounds like he knew all along and made a deal for the press coverage. Carrier happily sucked up the tax money (which was essentially buying jobs with American tax dollars, i.e. something the Republicans screamed was "picking winners and losers". All Carrier will do is keep a skeleton crew in the U.S. until the deal times out. Make no mistake, Wisconsin will be pulling out the checkbook for Foxconn but this has been in the works for a long time.
