The Democrats have abdicated their role in both houses of Congress, refusing to enact, debate, or even listen to any law proposals such as health care, tax reform, immigration etc.

When the Senate version of the health care plan was released, Democrats were making speeches against it within 15 minutes of it being announced. They hadn't even had time to read it before they prepared their speeches and denouncing it as "deadly, horrible, evil", etc. Thy had already decide to "resist" before they even knew what it contained.

They at clearly uninterested in participating in the lawmaking process.

We have heard some talk from fanatic about "impeachment". These Democrats should be first on the list. They have already refused to do their jobs. They are merely keeping the chairs warm while taking home their $100,000-plus salaries.

Given that the GOP holds all three branches of government right now, why are you blaming Democrats?

I mean, all three branches held by Republicans... And they still cannot accomplish anything, including the healthcare reform they've been pitching a bitchfit about for 10 years now. Just going by your own logic here, shouldn't we begin with the GOP?

Did you intend this post for some other thread, but mistakenly put it here? I didn't blame Democrats for anything.

Then you tried to change the subject to Republicans - a typical tactic of liberals who can't support their agenda or the actions (or lack thereof) of their party.

Back to the subject:
Democrats have completely abdicated any role in debating and making laws in Congress. Toay there was a vote to merely open debate... and every Democrat voted against it. They don't even want to debate health care. So much for the Senate being the "World's Greatest Deliberative Body". Only Republicans (and Republican VP Mike Pence casting the tie-breaking vote) voted to even debate it.

There is certainly room for impeachment here. Not of the President, who is doing his job in spades and even the Dems can't find any evidence of wrongdoing against him. But a lot of Democrat Senators (and Democrat House members) have flatly refused to do their jobs, not even examining Health Care proposals and doing nothing but warming some chairs, while still pulling down $100K-plus salaries anyway.

Not only were Democrats not invited into the GOP Senate health bill discussions, most Republicans weren't invited either. There were also no women included. Democrats are not being included into the budget discussions either. Nice try though.

Secrecy Surrounding Senate Health Bill Raises Alarms in Both Parties

Obamacare included nearly 190 Republican amendments while Republicans have not included Democrats in the discussions at all.

Make no mistake, the GOP plan has been created in backrooms under total secrecy by thirteen Republican men.

Was the Passage of Obamacare Just as Secretive as GOP Efforts to Repeal It?
While both bills could be faulted for periods of closed-door negotiations, experts agree that the secrecy behind the GOP bill to repeal Obamacare is in a league of its own.

The legislation is being written by 13 Republican senators — all of them men — in secret. No one has seen a draft of it. No public hearings have happened, and none are scheduled. Republicans briefly considered banning cameras from the halls of the Senate so they couldn’t be asked about the bill on television. Various Senate Republicans have condemned the process.

FACT CHECK: Was the Passage of Obamacare Was Just as Secretive as GOP Efforts to Repeal It?

Another frantic attempt to change the subject, from someone unable to address the topic of the thread.

Hard to play ball when you aren't invited to the game. Dems haven't abdicated anything, they have been explicitly excluded by the GOP, who used the threat of cooperation with Democrats as a tool to force straying GOP members back into compliance because that would of course be the ultimate horror

And no, your characterization of today's vote doesn't count, since it's fake news. MTP when there wasn't a pending bill isn't about stopping debate, it's about saying that they needed to have something to review to be able to debate it. Not some bogus "We'll figure it out as we go" nonsense. If the GOP wanted to actually debate anything, they wouldn't have gone straight from MTP requiring 20 hours debate directly to more votes tonight - it's the GOP who is not allowing debate despite the political theater earlier today.

Glad this topic has been broached.

Were Democrats seriously invited to participate in crafting health care changes?

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...mendments.html

"When Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act in 2010 without a single Republican vote, they were criticized for being too partisan. In the end, however, the bill included many Republican ideas."

Should Democrats craft legislation that the GOP will vote in lockstep to defeat? They may just as well go golfing, like Trump does. Less frustrating and equally productive.

And yet when it was time for them to open debate, they stuck to their newfound petrification and refused to give even one vote to do so. They no longer have the right to complain about being cut out, since they are the ones doing the cutting out.

why do you keep cutting and pasting the same false thing? It isn't going to magically become correct no matter how many times you post it.
