I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt until I had more details. I watched OMB director Mick Mulvaney and Sec of Treasury Mnuchin months ago in press briefings talk about preliminary budgets. A lot of so called cuts were merely moving money from one dept to another or eliminating duplicate depts. Also budgets have built in increases so when the amount stays the same it is called a 'cut.' Only in the DC sewer!

Let's be clear -- promoting young women in STEM is not a new initiative in Washington DC or anywhere....or even for a First Lady. I think we've seen this before.

Let's be clear -- offering apprenticeship programs while cutting education budgets is counter intuitive. Why cut money for resources to provide necessary education and then give out money later on. Where is the logic?

A majority of Republicans think college is bad for America
That is not what the poll says, it's says they think colleges are having a negative impact on the country. That does not mean education is a negative impact.

Ivanka gets publicity whether she wants it or not so chooses to spotlight certain programs including this one. For the same reason many movie stars sponsor small charities that otherwise would be overlooked by the public. Exposure.

The administration has been doing other things as well which you'd know if you subscribed to the official White House youtube channel. Over 2600 videos of meetings, events, speeches, foreign leaders, overseas trips, press briefings, bill signings, etc. Yet mainstream media chooses to focus on silliness like how many scoops of ice cream Trump eats. Ask yourself why.

Education has become big business charging higher and higher fees to pay skyrocketing administrators salaries and benefits which leave students with massive debts and often worthless degrees. Trump believes not everyone is suited for college. Some are gifted working with their hands and shouldn't be considered inferior or low status.

never thought of that did you einstein?
Personal attacks are unnecessary. A degree includes history and social sciences. Is history political? Social science courses include economics, geography, anthropology and psychology. Are those courses political? This idea that college is evil only comes from Republicans. The same Republicans that want to defund the Department of Education. That Republicans take millions away and then Trump donates $100K is laughable.

Perhaps he can donate money to a vocational school instead.

State and community colleges are affordable to the majority. It's the cost of housing that gets you. And we never needed Trump to tell us that college isn't for everyone. Are we really that stupid, as parents and students, to think we needed him to tell us that Please, say we aren't.

Apparently so, since a lot of kids with college degrees are working at Starbucks since they cant attend employment interviews and get jobs.

I dont think attendance at a govt daycare center should be confused with getting an education.
