They (we?) said the same thing about homosexuals 20 years ago. Homosexuality was even considered a psychological disorder by mainstream psychiatry in the 1970s.

You won't be able to convince me and many others that someone who "feels" they are the wrong gender and wants to pretend they are the other gender is not mentally ill.

Sorry

There is even a term for this illness. Gender dysphoria

I believe the Right and the left but to a much lesser extent uses sexuallity to rally its suporters and to divide people. before some stupid politician started banging on about bathrooms everyone was pretty cool with it.

Honestly, it's a vicious cycle.

1) The LGBT community feels like they don't have as many rights.
2) Conservatives think they're imagining it.
3) The LGBT community gets angry about being dismissed and get more loudly vocal.
4) Conservatives think they're throwing a tantrum and being demanding.

And then you have an infinite loop of steps 3 and 4.

Well many of them don't. Until recently, gay people could not have access to things like automatic hospital visitation afforded to married people. Etcetera. Trans people are still denied access to things like loans, housing, etc. for no other reason than that they are different.

Social conservatives just want to make sure everyone else' pants (and skirts) are as lonely and bereft as their own.
