Great. Sounds reasonable... hopefully the debt will be addressed as well.

Why should the US send foreign aid to anyone in the first place let alone take in immigrants?

Our government should only concern itself with Americans in America and fix our own problems instead of being the world’s charity, homeless shelter and police department.

Might not be a bad idea. OTOH-

At the same time, most Americans aren't aware, but China has been courting Pakistan HARD for a while now and they've agreed to work very deeply together to build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It's all part of China's grand vision to tie all of Eurasia together via OBOR and to cut out the US and the west from the vast majority of economic activity in the future in order to have China running how the entire world works. It'll also make it impossible for foreign militaries (mostly the US at this point) to try to deploy naval blockades which would choke off China from vital energy resources. Once China creates aspects of OBOR and has a more developed CPEC in place by helping Pakistan modernize, China will simply be able to transport all the energy it needs via land and won't be worried about a naval blockade by the Americans any more.

This just hastens Pakistan's embracing of Chinese influence. Military aid to Pakistan, wrong or not - make no decisions, might have been in America's best interests as a way to try to contain China a bit. That's gone now.

Sometimes we provide military aid (and that's what we are removing from Pakistan) because it's in our own best interests. All you have to do is read about it. Obviously, the administration doesn't feel that we are getting any benefit from the military aid. We don't do it out of generosity.

The reduction in aid to Pakistan will hurt the Pakistani government's effort to minimize the influence of the Pashtun, who are supporting the Taliban in Afganistan on the part of the border between the two countries that is heavily Pashtun on both sides. In other words, it may help the Taliban and hurt the US.

Since we have no idea how Trump's infrastructure program will work, it is difficult to say how this investment will help and who it will help.

But the foreign govt use it to buy military equipment from Americas defense industry. Its a gift from the taxpayers to the top 1% in the big business military industry. Trump wants to increase the military spending with another $70 billion, so more is coming that way.
