You do know that especially with the Democrats, the PARTY CONTROLS THE CANDIDATE. If they want election/re-election support, and advancement they ALWAYS vote with the PARTY. To think otherwise is being very naïve. The Republicans are much less like this, hence their failure at passing Obamacare repeal, or reform. They can't get enough R votes. The Dems don't have that problem, they always are lock step with their party.

What part of "conservatism" screams "big, bold ideas"?

Republicans have one idea for every domestic issue: tax cuts for wealthy people!

That's it. There are no other policy goals.

Couldn't have anything to do with the GOP HC plan sucking big time?

All but three GOP senators voting for a deeply unpopular plan doesn't shout "lockstep"? LOL

Things this country was founded on

Less needless regulation
Smaller, less intrusive, collectivist Federal government
Reasonable taxes, and tax rates
Strong national defense
Protection against illegal aliens
Making the Constitution matter
End needless social engineering, and the costs of it

There are many more. The establishment Republicans talk a good game, but don't do anything about it as they also want big government like the Dems.

Dems had one answer for all domestic issues : import MS13 and let them thrive in sanctuary's.

The real Republicans should reject the Trump Yahoos and go at it alone. While it was good for the last election, long-term the Trump cult will destroy the party. You can't hitch your party to a cult of personality that basically has no Republican principles.

I know so many Republicans who voted for Trump simply because he was the Republican nominee and because they hate the Clintons. They do NOT like the Trump nonsense about ending free trade, walling off the country, demonizing gays and immigrants, insulting our allies, and all the other idiotic nonsense. They want lower taxes, less regulation, and the like, NOT racist KKK idiocy.
There are many Republicans who voted for Trump simply because he was a Republican, but we should also keep in mind that Trump trounced the field in many of the most "conservative" states during the primary season. The only "conservative" states he didn't perform well in were western states that have large Mormon populations.

He is just now figuring that out? I find that hard to believe.

The party has but one true function: advocate for the rich and super-rich.

This is a lie. Trump said that Mexicans were "rapists and murderers". He never said anything about illegals having such characteristics.

Trump doesn't care about illegals. He's married to a (former) illegal. He refuses to stop illegal immigration, which could be easily fixed if you go after employers. He has hired thousands of illegals. In fact he hires illegals to this day, in his many properties.

He only started the illegal thing 18 months ago when he figured there were tons of middle-American bigots who could be persuaded to vote for a white nationalist figure.
