Only in the USA do we pay teachers close to nothing while knuckleheads throwing a ball around get paid millions. We ignore the teachers and watch said knuckleheads bend knees on grass like it matters or something.

That was very shady "journalism." They use the link of federal funds to increase certain patriotic activities at games to claim that players didn't stand for the anthem before this period, without actually looking into footage to prove/disprove their point. Another factor people are ignoring is the emergence of soccer. Alot of young people who might otherwise watch NFL are also watching MLS.
