Of course it is. My memories of sports events go back to about 1960 and I don't remember there ever being a time when it wasn't typical and routine for athletes and fans at major sports events to stand for the national anthem.
That was very shady "journalism." They use the link of federal funds to increase certain patriotic activities at games to claim that players didn't stand for the anthem before this period, without actually looking into footage to prove/disprove their point. Thanks for bringing up your own experiences, too!
Attendance isn't dipping. It's been in the 17 million range for yearly attendance for the past decade and its approaching 18 million now. 2016 attendance was higher than 2015. Trump lied in his tweet about NFL attendance and you repeated his lie.......

He didn't say any "black" player.. he said "ANY" player who disrespected our flag. You're the one who is trying to make it about race.
You're correct he didn't SAY black but I have to wonder if they were white or any other race if he would of said anything at all.
