Villanueva, who played football at West Point Military Academy, later went on to become an Army Ranger and served three tours in Afghanistan. He also was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Prior to playing for the Steelers, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014.
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates.

Tomlin said in a post-game press conference that he was looking for “100 percent participation” in whatever course of action the team took during the national anthem.
They are not wearing the actual official US flag on their shirt.
Those schools forbid even a image that suggests red and white stripes, and a field of blue with stars. Why? Because some demented SJW student or teacher view the US flag as a symbol of racism and oppression. Hence, any t-shirt bearing a facsimile that might appear to represent the US flag must be banned, or else the SJW might resort to violence.
For crying out loud.
Wearing the flag as a t-shirt, sweatshirt, pair of shorts, etc. is disrespectful. The flag should be treated with honor, not worn to cover your butt.
Now, back to the question I asked about which schools are forbidden to fly the U.S. flag.
Maybe, like perhaps when white restaurant owners didn't think blacks should protest by insisting on sitting at the counter in their diner when there were places for blacks to eat? Or when Rosa Parks had the audacity to sit in the front of the bus when no one else would think of doing such a thing?
"Better ways" you say? Some might argue the best way is to do something people notice and start talking about, arguing about, doing something about...
Actually, not like those examples at all. People notice this for sure. Is it helping the cause? Protesting basically our whole country and what it stands for? We will see.
If they have "1st amendment rights" on the field, then why
do they get a personal foul penalty if they say certain words?

The government is not to prohibit or inhibit Free Speech.
Employers are free to do so as part of their employment agreement.
Which means that POTUS has got no business here.
But rumors of indictments are flying around, documents are being subpoenaed, Rs are backing off, even Trump's own advisors are looking at him like he's lost his mind.
Trump had to do something to rally the deplorables.

POTUS is just as free to comment. I wish he hadn't, but he has that right.
He was called a hero among many, especially Christians, or course. Many others ridiculed him, and his public expressions of his faith. They even came up with the word "Tebowing", but no one said it was disrespectful.
I never found it disrespectful at all. Just him exercising his free speech - not a single thing wrong with that.
Calling him a hero for that is a little much - but everyone's definition is different, of course.
By the way, I was talking about the national anthem, not his kneel down when he'd score a TD.
First there was Kaepernick for his reasons. Now there are all the others because of how Trump is disrespecting their right to protest, their reasons for protesting, essentially oblivious to what the POTUS should well know better!
Question... Do you think Trump said what he said on purpose, because he made a calculated assumption on how the players would react (which they are doing) - and understood that a large part of the nation would isolate them and begin tuning them out?
