Another poster just pointed out the difference in population now compared to BC. You all can't have it both ways. Which is it ?

As he also said: Abe Lincoln was a Republican, who knew?!?! Never mind the GOP has called itself the Party of Lincoln for several decades. What a twit.

Because apparently a little thing called slavery in the US didn't exist for a couple of centuries.

In case anyone was wondering, statements like these are why people have legitimate concerns about Trump's mental competency.
Ironic since the NYAG is investigating human trafficking of underage girls at Trump's model agency.

so this is a strange thread. folk mad at a president for calling attention to human trafficking... Something that has a far higher impact on women in the modern period.

I see comments suggesting that the President tweeting seems to them as if he is denying past slavery....

mind blowing.

some facts. there have been periods in history where there were a vastly higher % of the population in slavery. That is true. it is theorized that Ancient Rome reached as high as 40% (could have been higher towards the end).

but It is also 100% accurate to state that there are more people in slavery today, than at any single point in history. That is factual. Slavery in the modern period is a real problem.

We should all be happy the President (any president) is looking at that issue. its terrible that this is the thing we have decided to fight about.

Butt hurt losers putting our national security at risk and that doesn't take into consideration the leaks.
i see, so after i explained to you why posters repeatedly question and condemn TRump for publicly lying, you reply with "butt hurt" . hmm. pretty homophobic and immature of you Phma, while i generally find your post inane, until now you have mostly remained at least somewhat adult. shame.

Interesting. Trump is ok with any illegal acts related to immigration if those involved are models. Lol.

Even Melania modeled here illegally and then somehow acquired a green card by being one of the best models. An Olympic medal model. A Nobel Laureate of models.

Perspective matters when citing history. What was acceptable behavior at the time v.s today?
In my opinion it is a worse crime today because we have evolved beyond slavery and recognize everyones humanity. To commit those crimes today is far worse than a behavior that may have been acceptable 200 years ago. That isn't to minimize slavery of 200 years ago, but times change.
To commit such acts today is reprehensible.

Actually, you can. Looking at the raw numbers really doesn't work, because there are soooo many more people around today than "in the BC times". When you enslave a whole population, like the Israelites were in Egypt, it was a big deal, even if there were fewer actual victims. So, it isn't the "either/or" that you envision.

Since you have a history of lying and hysterics here could you source your claims please comrade?

We missed you at the secret Russian bot meeting on Tuesday. You were supposed to bring the deviled eggs.
