The riots ruined detroit , what is the conversation we are supposed to be having at this point?
Riots do not occur without reason. The brutal and unfair treatment of African Americans by law enforcement was a key trigger of the '67 Detroit riots. Fifty years later, many of the same problems with law enforcement still exist.
I grew up in Detroit; however, I was in 'Nam when the riots hit. Would have loved to come home with a Bell UH-1 gunship and spray Woodward Ave with a Bell UH 1, 20mm canon and/or AS10 rockets. The problem would have been resolved a lot quicker.
So instead of trying to understand the reasons why people would be angry enough to riot and then come together with them to fix the problems, you'd just murder them?
I can only hope that if Trump is ever taken away in hand cuffs that the officer won't use his or her hand to shied his head either. What a horses rear end.

Fifty years later it is actually much worse with most black ghettos today . The black family was actually pretty strong before the great society and welfare state with close to 75% of black children born into two parent family households. Now its reversed with 73% of black children born into single parent homes.
Means-tested welfare programs such as food stamps, public housing, Medicaid, day care, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families penalize marriage. A mother generally receives far more money from welfare if she is single rather than married.
Welfare programs for the poor incentivize the very behaviors that are most likely to perpetuate poverty, more than $22 trillion of taxpayer money has been spent on means-tested welfare programs for the poor and many of these places are far worse off now than they were in the 1960s
The riots coming will probably be more like LA because integration, the great society, and the civil rights movement has been a disaster for alot of inner cities.

I say... Gas the city with sleeping gas. Go in. Find those in possession of drugs. Lock them up while they're snoring. Collect finger prints and weapons. Compare ballistics in homicides and pull every Thug off of the street and put into work camps. No more cushy prisons with 3 hots and a cot. Black white Aisan Latin doesn't make one bit of difference.

I look at this and think "most of this is utter junk". Based on things I've read out of the Moynihan Report, I have this to say.
Things were going on the decline starting from the beginning of the 1950s. The number of fatherless homes in the Black population started rising in the 1950s. The Black population led the USA in out of wedlock births going back to the Great Depression. During the 1950s, Black divorce rates went UP while White divorce rates dropped. The "decline in the Black family" started in the 1950s, before the Great Society started.
And there is more. The Black out of wedlock birth rate in 1932 was six times higher than the White out of wedlock birth rate. During the Depression, there was a kind fo welfare program for mothers whose husbands died or abandoned them. Guess what? Blacks were not afforded this program. If a Black mother had these issues (and Black women were more likely to be raising children alone than White women) it was S.O.L.
Things were going down hill for Black families BEFORE welfare penalized marriage.
And to say Blacks are worse off today than 50 years ago is utter stupidity. Black people today have far more freedom than they ever did in the 60s and before. No more Jim Crow these days. Black people can live where they want, go to school where they want, eat and travel where they want, date whom they want. As long as you work for that house, you can buy where you want. No more "no Blacks allowed" statutes.
Explain something to me. How were Civil Rights and integration disastrous for the inner city? Explain, because I see nothing but good things coming from the two. Nothing but good things.
There would be bipartisan consensus that your idea is stupid.
