We all know that San Francisco lives on the edge of lunacy but when it comes to public safety they need to disclose the identity of young men who are preying on subway riders.

BART Withholding Surveillance Videos Of Crime To Avoid ‘Stereotypes’ « CBS San Francisco

They are not releasing the video that shows these bozos beating up and robbing subway riders because they fear that they will perpetuate negative stereotypes and that there will be a backlash in the media and public against the white/black/muslim/ asian community or whoever is responsible for these robberies.

I say that they have a responsibility to the public to identify who the criminals are regardless of their skin colour and if there is a backlash of fear against say the white communities so be it.

If I was sitting on a train that is known to have a problem with roving bands of white kids beating and robbing riders and I just noticed a group of them got on my guard would be up.

Why is San Fran protecting the criminals while putting the subway riding citizens at risk?

Doesn't make sense to me. Just release the video.

When reality (aka hard data) kills the desired narrative on demographics and crime, just go no habla and stop releasing data. Problem solved!

By not releasing the video the city might be protecting a certain group of people from racial stereotyping but they are also putting the public at risk to be victims of these predators.

When I was in London this past January there were signs up all over Trafalgar Square "Beware of pick pockets" and I'm glad there was because it made me secure my valuables that much more and I was the target of a hit. They didn't get anything thank goodness.
There was no racial profiling to be done except to steer clear of groups of teens that were hanging out. I guess I could have been accused of ageism in avoiding them?

Not far from me are beautiful beaches but guess what is out in the water? Great White sharks. We have warning signs and people watching for them from boats and planes but it mostly comes down to common sense when swimming.
If the sharks could protest they probably would for giving their species a bad name and making people frightened of them.

The same should go for roving bands of black, white, hispanic and asian teens that are up to no good on the subway.

How many people would not take that train if they knew they could get beat up and robbed?
