This "research" was the result if an "online test." It's basically a joke. People have been trying to discredit traditional IQ tests for years for two reason: 1) the tests are extremely consistent and effective at measuring intelligence; and 2) they are uncomfortable with the results.
Intelligence is a social construct...just like IQ and race for that matter.
It's all subjective. So developing a metric of measurement would be subjective as well.
No more than anything else though. IQ tests measure you ability to learn new things. And they're good at measuring this ability. Is that "intelligence?" I think so. Others may have a different opinion.

It's a fair thing to evaluate. And the research is perfectly valid.
IQ isn't perfect, and absent better metrics it isn't the worst thing one could use (which is why it is used) - but I'm certainly not convinced that it is perfect or a fully accurate representation of "intelligence".
And when you're basing your entire argument on this metric, you do want to make sure it is solid.

A fair counterpoint. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I agree with the general thrust of your argument while carefully treading on the subjective nature of "intelligence".
IQ tests are remarkably consistent over time in terms of groupings of people based on (relatively) recent ancestry. I also agree that liberals tend to devalue these findings because of this fact.
Higher IQs are also strongly correlated to a greater ability to understand and demonstrate objective concepts such as math and science.
